And, regardless of the motorcycling discipline, when its team time the competitiveness bar goes up a few notches as riders dig deep to find that last extra percentage of speed, strength and determination to end the campaign in glory! For the closure of 2025, the AMCA introduced their own new team event, the ‘Motocross of Clubs’ and what a success it was! Seventeen current AMCA clubs entered the contest with eventual victory going to Middlewich MX ahead of Tameside MXC and Potteries MXC.

This super event always seems to deliver the goods with immaculate organisation by the Purbeck MXC in conjunction with the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club, raising big sums of money for local charities whilst also offering people the chance to watch some great motocross action for FREE. An added entertainment bonus this year was the appearance after a 10-year break of the famous Weston Beach race gorilla Andy Hobbs on his trusty red Honda quad. As expected, the gorilla was as mischievous as normal and delighting the massive crowd with all of his usual antics!

As per normal, the organising Purbeck MXC joins forces with the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club to promote the event, their aim to provide an exciting day of motocross sand surfing action. Although the spectating of that action is totally FREE for everyone, there will be the usual bucket collections and special souvenir programmes on sale, in the process raising as much money as possible for local charities.

Hosted by the Middlewich MXC, there was though to be an interesting extra ingredient thrown into the mix thus making those medal hunters work just a little harder to get it over the line for glory! After a dry day one, rain moved in on Sunday thus totally changing track conditions. Despite that late twist though the title leaders of the respective classes remained composed and controlled to still put the required points on the board.

The event was the penultimate round of the 2025 AMCA British Motocross Championship and in what was always going to be a very tasty affair, the excitement levels then went up a notch or two with the inclusion of numerous ‘Wildcard’ competitors. Indeed one of those ‘Wildcards’ was to undoubtedly be the star of Sunday’s meeting so take a bow Lucy Barker!

And, that’s the destination this coming Sunday, July 6th for the latest 2025 AMCA title chasing adventures! So far, the opening four rounds have been staged as double header events with racing on both Saturday and Sunday each time. For Hawkstone though it’s the one-day format and three blocks of demanding, hotly contested and highly competitive action instead!

Read MoreWith the weather forecast being wildly incorrect and no expected rain falling during race weekend of the AMCA British Motocross Championship round 4 held at Lower Drayton, the organising Cannock MXC certainly had to be flexible and very proactive in their track preparation! And, they certainly got it right with the soft, loamy soil which prevails at Lower Drayton being in prime condition before as expected becoming brutal and rough! Despite the eventual tough going though, the action was again highly competitive as the finish line in the title hunt is now appearing just over the horizon!
