Make no mistake about it folks, this annual Classic & Twinshock race fixture is fast becoming the number one must do race meeting in the north of England! With 200 riders from all over the country & some spectators traveling a fair old distance to watch the on track action unfold it`s certainly one for your diary in 2025.
The natural grassland circuit boasts a rich history that goes right back to the early days of scrambling & it`s excellent spectator viewing area helps bring in a large crowd even on a damp & drizzly day like the one we had this year. With race classes ranging from Pre-1960 right through to Twinshock plus age related under 45 to over 60 groups & race points going towards overall championship standings it was a busy old race schedule.
As the day wore on the mud got deeper & the going got harder but the racing at the front was still fantastic. For many it became a battle of rider & machine against the elements with the main goal just to keep upright & traveling in a forward direction. While others seem to thrive in such conditions & treat onlookers to a demonstration of how it`s supposed to be done, guys like BSA mounted Chris Chell & the Maico racers Alan Bott & David Salkeld to name but three. Yes a proper old school scramble on natural terrain with not a table-top jump in sight.

How can I start?
This all depends on what discipline you want to start with – some require you to take a licence whilst others are more flexible and allow you to turn up and ride. Once you have opted for a discipline, see the FAQ for more tailored questions.
What is the difference between motocross, enduro, and trials?
These are all different disciplines the AMCA caters for, along with much more. Motocross is fast paced, short races over both natural and man-made terrain with 36 riders going into a first corner. Enduro is more long distance, long duration events, usually through woodland. Trials is slow paced, technical, balance based over challenging short course with the object to go through without putting your foot on the floor.
How old do I have to be?
The AMCA accepts riders from the age of 6 for trials, 7 for motocross, 11 for enduro and supermoto, and 16 for classic scrambles.
