Want To Join? Supermoto: Join a Supermoto club & get an AMCA licence
Back in the 70’s the constant debate as to who really was the best in motorcycle racing got serious. If it was possible to combine several disciplines including motocross, road-racing, and dirt-track who would come out on top? From this emerged a formula with circuits that were a combination of tarmac and dirt used by off-road bikes with road tyres. The result was one of the most spectacular forms of bikesport in the world today, Supermoto.
Now firmly established in Europe and America it has had a slow but steady growth in the UK. The bikes used are mainly large capacity four-stroke motocross based machines, although with the development of the sport smaller capacity machines are now being used for the Junior classes. The AMCA was a key partner in a rejuvenated British Championship several years ago and still retains an active involvement.
Joining an AMCA club…
Those wishing to get involved in Supermoto can get involved in the British Championship via the AMCA where there are a number of ‘feeder’ or Junior categories supporting the Elite class. The Association also has two affiliated clubs operating in the North and South. In Scotland, the ESKC Supermoto Club operates from a venue in East Fife while SSM.UK has a thriving championship taking in several venues in the South East.
