Silverstone / Mallory Masters venue swap
Written by AMCA OFFICE Wednesday, 23 February 2011 00:00
The AMCA’s Wulfsport British Masters have been working alongside Laurence Wiltshire and Jonny Groves, the Silverstone track builder to put on a top race meeting at the magnificent Silverstone venue.
Having imported thousands of tonnes of soil and three machines running flat out to raise the track two feet as well as 600 tonnes of pea gravel for drainage and soakaways built around the track, unfortunately the weather has beaten us. Reviewing the long range weather forecast for the area, we are not willing to take the gamble with lots of standing water left on the circuit, so both organisations, fronted by Laurence Wiltshire and Ken Winstanley have made the decision to move the Silverstone event to the 2nd and 3rd July for the Mallory date. We are delighted that Rob Wainwright has come to the rescue and round one will now be at the illustrious Mallory Park where the track is all ready to go having had a track inspection today by Ken Winstanley.
Massive apologies for any inconvenience, but this decision to rearrange the fixtures has been made with the riders in mind to bring them two top class events at Britain’s best tracks.
