AMCA Secure Deal for Skegness Beach Race

PDFPrintE-mail

The AMCA British Masters Beach Race is to return to Skegness in 2011! The inaugural 2010 event received rave reviews from riders and spectators and the AMCA have moved quickly to secure the 12th and 13th November for this year.

The AMCA received the excellent news on Tuesday when they met with the East Lindsey District Council for a debrief meeting following last year’s beach race and were told that the town would welcome the Beach Race back not just for 2011 but also for 2012 and 2013! In addition, the AMCA have an option to extend up to and including 2016 ensuring that this is one fixture that is definitely here to stay!

The 2011 race winner Miko Potisek has already confirmed to Race Director Ken Winstanley that he will be looking to retain his crown this year and scoop up the £1,000 prize money. Ken said “we’re over the moon to be going back to Skegness again, this event has the potential to grow and grow, the beach is great, the towns folk are very welcoming. The AMCA British Masters Beach race will develop into one of the best around!”

AMCA General Manager, Suzanne Potts said this is great news for the AMCA and all those beach race enthusiasts out there, the first year went really well and everybody had a fantastic weekend. For 2011 the Council are looking to provide us with even more beachside hard standing car parking which gives the riders excellent camping facilities right behind the beach and the pit area just a stone’s throw away.

The East Lindsey District Council have also agreed to extend the date which their illuminations are on to encompass the beach race weekend.

The beach race will take place the week after the Dirt Bike Show and should attract more riders than last year due to the earlier date.

Riders will be able to book into the event on line as last year from 1st February and the AMCA have vowed to keep prices down. From 1st February, riders can enter the event and take advantage of the early bird booking offer.

Suzanne Potts commented “the AMCA is known for cost effective racing and the Beach Race is no different,  last year we provided riders with an all in package at a very reasonable entry fee – for 2011 we intend to keep costs down again. The event will yet again be free to spectate so riders can bring along family and friends to support them without having to pay hefty prices. The entry fee will also include camping! With the track and car park just a few hundred yards away from the vibrant east coast town and night life, it is no wonder why the 2010 event benefitted from 14,000 spectators over the two days with many taking advantage of the bird’s eye view provided by the pier and the crowds really gave the riders a lift as they negotiated the track which had been designed and built by beach race expert Rob Meek, another addition confirmed who is already drawing out plans for an even better sandy lap!

Numbers will be limited so if beach racing is your thing – this looks like it could be the one for you!

With other beach races still to be confirmed at least this is one that you can put in your diary now!
