John Lambert Memorial Scramble

PDFPrintE-mail

Following the success of the first running of the John "Lambo" Lambert memorial scramble on Good Friday last year, Hereford Motocross Club are pleased to announce that the event will run again this year on Good Friday 6th April 2012.

The meeting will this year leave the clubs home circuit at Walterstone and head to Downwood Farm, Shobdon by kind permission of Shobdon & District MC and the AMCA.
Last years meeting at Walterstone saw over 60 former members and friends of Johns turn out in 2 special "Old Friends" classes, many of whom were back on a bike for the first time in many years.
This years event see's a switch to Shobdon as the club re-develop Walterstone for the coming season. Shobdon is a track that John spent a lot of time during his time racing in the old Border group where he was a group coordinator, a time where he made many friends across the area.
The club will be running a format with classes as normal for Inter Juniors, Juniors, Seniors and Experts but with the addition of the old friends classes as well as a nostelgia class which will see a twinshock and Evo class running in the same race but scored seperately as 2 different classes.
Hereford Secretary Peter Reed commented -
"The Lambo Memorial Meeting was a huge success last year and the incredible turnout was a fitting tribute to such a well loved member of the local Motocross family. It would be great to have so many old friends back again and more and will be fantastic to see some older bikes competing on the day. Shobdon was a track close to Johns heart and an area he had many friends so we are pleased to take the event their and in the future plan to rotate the event around several local venues".
The club will also remember Lambo the very next day on Easter Saturday as they take on Holme Lacy Football Club in the second annual Lambo Memorial Match, a game that the Motocross boys & girls lost last year 7-4, but this year hope to get in training early as they seek to win back the Lambo Memorial Trophy from the other sports club where John spent a significant amount of his time.
Entries for Good Friday will be available on-line in the coming weeks and through clubs, but for any old friends who are not licence holders looking to take part in the old friends or nostelgia races please contact secretary Peter Reed on 07748 598874 before Friday 16th March as the club are offering discounted day licences to encourage as many of Lambo's old pals back to take part.
