Following the big Weston race,it’s the turn of the AMCA to go beach racing this coming Sunday,October 16th as they stage their annual Weymouth bash.
The event is promoted by the AMCA in conjunction with both the Purbeck MCC and local Weymouth Lions Club with full support from Weymouth and Portland Borough Council.
Over 250 riders will be present, but it’s not about one mad three-hour test of endurance.Instead the Weymouth action begins with a practice session between 12 noon and 1 pm followed by a busy six race programme consisting of two motos each for Juniors,Seniors and Experts. The 2010 Experts winner Rick Du-Feu has already entered along with Nick Life,Luke Mellows and AMCA MX1 Champion Lee Dunham amongst others. Also making a return to Weymouth are the 2010 Seniors and Juniors victors,John Gill and Lee Wren.Upholding the female racers honour on the Dorset beach on Sunday will be Catherine King,Louise Williams and Charlotte Ryall. Also during the action another name definitely worth watching out for could well be 2011 British Superbike Champion Tommy Hill.
The Weymouth course is approximately one mile in length with a series of jumps,’bomb holes’and chicanes to test the riders skills. And,you can watch the action for FREE,YES FREE however there is the chance to make a voluntary donation to the Weymouth and Portland Lions club by either contributing to a bucket collection or purchasing an event programme .So get down to the picturesque,Georgian seaside town this Sunday and not only enjoy the beach race but also the many seafront attractions, entertainment and hospitality!!.
