Bruce Bolton kindly sends us his report from the latest Walsall MCC trials action held at Brooke Farm, near Kimbolton,Leominister on Sunday,5th June. This event also incorporated a round of the Peter Flower Memorial Summer Championship.
Walsall MCC ran the 2nd round of the Pete Flower Memorial Trial championship at Brook Farm. The sections were set in the brook with a good variety of roots, rocks and muddy climbs. The Saturday leg was run in bright sunshine after a short sharp shower just before the start. Expert winner was Sam Griffiths of Newport Club with Andy Bolton in second.
The clubman class(50/50) was won by Justin Bolton (MissionMX Beta) who knocked Walsall’s Andy Lodge into second also beating regular podium finisher John Bottrill.Non-Experts class was won by Pete Thompson who just beat Bruce Bolton and his arch rival Andy Love. Andy had problems on the last three sections which added greatly to his score.
Over night rain saw the course plotters out early revamping the sections. The ground turns from grip to ice with the addition of water. The rain stopped just before the start and the ground began to dry making the sections easier as the day wore on.The Experts class was won by Tom Hibberd from Eddie Dain whose fiasco on section 5 spoilt his day. Jack Hibberd was 3rd with Saturday’s winner Sam Giffiths 4th.
The Clubman Class was won by veteran rider Colin Leese on his twin shock Armstrong with a stunning ride for a loss of just 3 marks closely followed by riding partner and brother-in-law Alan Miles just 1 mark more. John Bottrill was once again 3rd this time beating Andy Lodge by 3.In the Non-Experts class Andy Love got his act together and beat Pete Thompson into second by just 2 marks.
The Twin shock class was won by Rob Badland on his Honda with R Jones second.Andy Lodge is still on top for the Pete Flower Trophy with 57 points but Pete Thompson and Andy love are very close. Both being on 54.
The next round is Ibex 2 Day at Bracken Rocks 18/19th June. Thanks to all the observers and the land owner for all their help.
