Lydd Supermoto

Saturday 15th October 2011 saw the final round of the Southern Supermoto championship played out at a very sunny Lydd Karting track in Kent.
The Expert section was hanging in the balance after the odds on favourite Ben Rob had the chance to ride for England and a works ride in Italy. This meant he would miss some of the last rounds thus giving the chasing group a chance. The championship battle went right to the wire with young Sam Gilbody just pippin the very popular Welsh rider Mark “Dicky” Jones for the title.
Without doubt this section saw the race of the day with good friends Ben Rob going head to head with Ryan Dixon in the final race. Ryan held off Ben who was just behind for the whole race but could not pass the inch perfect Ryan Dixon, Lewis Cornish finish a close third.
The Inters was not quite so close with reigning champion Richard Langrish beating his andysfotos.com team mate Mark Rigden to the title. Richard only having to stay upright in the three races ment finishing with a 2nd, 3rd and 4th gave him an easy win.
In the Novice class young Sam Rigden made really hard work closing out the title by crashing out a couple of times. This meant he rode the last race with a broken hand rather than end with a DNF. Second place went to Grant Fraser who rode well all year.
The season ended with a very boozy night at the Lydd golf club, a good time had by all.
