Sunday 23rd October saw the final round of the combinde Moto-Duro Championship between the Stourbridge MXC and the BlackHeath auto Sports Club, At the very popular Menith Wood circuit. With a good turn out the riders were treated to a 5 plus minute lap with flat out straights, some good climbs and wooded sections plus a moto cross track and to add spice the stour boys and girls had a log section over the finishing line, which caught a few of the tired and weary out.
At 11:20 due to the ambulance getting lost, riders went to their respective lines, a good line up of experts and seniors and a double line up of clubman lined up with dead engines, 11:30 up went the flag, Lee Green, Lee Kelly with lighting reflexes shot off, Kelly wasn`t having any of it and soon took Green for the lead only to pull a good strong lead on his Ktm number 160 Tom crump came up behind the two Ktm riders Green and Kelly, Green made a mistake and stalled Grump not one to hesitate soon took over the silenced Ktm, soon his ktm was breathing down Kelly`s neck a couple of laps later and he had the lead only to stall his ktm in the sme spot as Green, back in the lead Kelly was on a charge but hard charging crump wasn`t in the mood he rode out of his skin. kelly then made a mistake and crump was back on top down went his head and boy did he move, he pulled a brilliant lead but with two laps to go Kelly had other ideas of how this hour race should end only to push crump to the flag. absolutely fantastic riding by these two riders Green a good third.
The second leg again it was Green and kelly but crump was way down, Kelly was on a charge to the finish with Green in second. Overall went to Kelly 2nd Green 3rd Jason Hicken.
The Seniors were next up with Katie Walker taking two whole shots on her emaculate turned out Ktm, with super smooth riding style 1st overall with back to back 1st Katie was taking riders everywhere well inot the experts pack, 2nd went to Chris Gaunt 3rd to Jamea Earl.
The clubman class saw Luke Redman take the win with a 1st and 2nd, thomas Hibberd 2nd, stephen totnay 3rd overall. It must be mentioned fantastic day with a superb track laid out by the handful of riders and their family`s. Results for the Championship will be out soon.
Thanks to everyone who helped and to the farmer for letting us use his land.
