Hereford MXC AMCA Awards Presentation

Hereford Motocross Club welcomed over 150 members and guests along with longtime AMCA Championship Top Runners, brothers Simon & James Lane as special guests at their annual presentation evening dinner dance at the three counties hotel.
The awards were as usual kicked off with the promising young talent in the room as the club now boasts the most Inter Junior riders in recent years. 13 year old Oliver Jones and 13 year old Tom Mumford narrowly missed out on the podium with 5th & 4th respectively with 14 year old Adelaide Watkins finishing 3rd. 14 Year old Josh Gethin just missed out on top spot with 2nd in his class but was topped by 13 year old Grant Jones who was this years top Inter Junior Rider. Jones, Watkins, Mumford & Gethin were all also part of the winning team in the annual Wessex South Wales regional teamrace,with the Hereford youngsters beating all the other 9 clubs in the region.
Last years top Inter Junior Chad Prosser had another successful season in what was his first in the adult ranks as the 14 year old from Brecon topped the MX2 Juniors in a season that saw him upgraded to the Senior ranks, second in class went to Sam Mumford who also progressed to the seniors with Ben Prosser filling the final step on the podium just ahead of Ethan Lambert. In the MX1 Junior class James Price, Daniel Clarke and Jon Evans were 5th, 4th and 3rd respectively all having spent the latter half of the season in the Senior ranks. The top spot went to Paul Lambert who narrowly pipped Dave Addison for the top trophy.
In the seniors Billy Johnson pipped Sam Mumford to 3rd place with Harley Jones finishing runner up following an impressive first season in the senior class. The Wayne Evans Memorial top MX2 Senior Trophy went to Lewis Allen who had a very impressive season that finished with him an established expert rider following his upgrading in September. In the MX1 Seniors Peter Reed was pipped to the final step of the podium by Mark Gaze who finished the season in the Experts. Glenn Owen filled the runners up spot with John Card rounding off a strong season by topping the MX1 Seniors.
In the MX2 Expert class Jamie Linton pipped Ash newton to the final step on the podium as the top 2 swapped places from 2010 where Chris Rudd was pipped by Kieran Mulloy for the top prize. In the MX1 Experts Matt Rudd pipped Tom Card to 5th place in a very competitive class and Scott Donativo just missed out on the top 3 finishing 4th. The top 3 were all Over 40's showing that they seem to get better with age with Anthony Mapp finishing the season strongly to grab third, just behind former AMCA Champion Andy Watkins, but retaining his Stormer MX Open Expert Trophy was club Chairman Rob Prosser who had yet another impressive year that saw him finish 5th in the AMCA Vets Championship despite missing a round through injury.
In other awards where memorial trophies are awarded to top home riders at the clubs home meetings, Kieran Mulloy and Grant Jones took the Martin Hempsal and Ian Lewis Memorial respectively for consistent performances at Hereford meetings. The first 2 Hereford meetings of the season saw the same rider take top top honours where Harley Jones took both the Ray Hockey Memorial and the Ivor Hackley Memorial. The 3rd meeting of the season saw the top trophy shared as Rob Prosser and Sam Mumford shared the Taylor & Bushnell Trophy. Finally the biggest and oldest memorial trophy in the club, the giant Pop Beaumont Memorial went to veteran Andy Watkins for the 2nd year running as he won all 3 races in the clubs final meeting in September.
Andrew Linton took one of the clubs top awards as his fellow members voted him the club person of the year, a deserved award for someone who is crucial to the club with his expertise and endless hard work with preparing one of the best amatuer club tracks in the country. The voting for most promising young rider was tight with 3 joint runners up all recognised in the shape of Sam Mumford, Chad Prosser and Josh Gethin, who all look set to be stars of the future. Pipping his 3 club mates however was this years winner Grant Jones who will next season start in the adult ranks having dominated the Inter Junior class this season. Club Chairman Rob Prosser presented his Chair's Choice to long term member Peter Cole in recognition for his hard work to the club for over 15 years.
Kieran Mulloy, Scott Donativo, Rob Prosser, Luke Jones, Terry Lloyd and Andy Watkins were all recognised for outstanding rides throughout the season; with 3 of them in contention for the nights top award, the first ever presentation of the Lambo Tankard "Riders Rider", a giant memorial tankard in memory of the clubs president John Lambert who sadly lost his battle with prostate cancer in January. Over 50 rider members voted for the rider of the season and despite several votes for Scott Donativo and club Chairman Rob Prosser, the first ever recepient with over half of the club's members voting for him was 18 year old Kieran Mulloy. John Lambert's wife Hilda joined the special guests to present the award to a delighgted Mulloy.
Club secretary Peter Reed was presented with a gift by Chairman Rob Prosser in recognition of his endless work and commitment to the club as he completed the presentations by thanking the special Guests Simon & James Lane. Reed also recognised the crucial support of the st johns ambulance, the land owner at the track at Walterstone Mr Paul Sevenoaks and the club sponsors, Domestic & General, AJP Process Pipework, AB Stainless, Leominster Crane Hire, Metal Work Supplies, CSS Computers, Bearings Bolts & Sprokets, R Smith Metals, ET James Motor Cycles and Hereford Ford Specialist.
