Lynda Metherell made the long trip down the busy M5 on Sunday to visit the top class circuit at Little Silver.Bath MXC were promoting the event.
Bath Motocross Club ran at Little Silver, just outside Exeter on Sunday. The weather was cloudy and despite it trying to rain it never quite happened.
The highlight of the day was Round 6 of the 2 Stroke Championships. 21 riders on the gate produced a good days racing. Riders came from far and wide for the racing, some travelling in-excess of 4 hours to get to the meet. Riders ranged from 15 years old to 40 years young and all ages battled to give their best performances. The positions overall at the start of round 6 were 1st to 5th respectively, Danny Blakeley, Jack Bas, Adam Harris, Rian Warren and George Hough. Would today’s racing change these positions?
In race 1, first past the finish post was Adam Harris with Danny Blakeley and Jack Bas following within 6 seconds of first place. In race 2, fortunes were reversed with Jack Bas first past the post and Danny Blakeley following very closely behind and then Adam Harris. Race 3 saw fortunes change again with Adam Harris 1st and Jack Bas and Danny Blakeley following all within 3 seconds of each other. Rian Warren was a consistent 4th place but really battled hard in Race 3 with George Hough to maintain 4th.
Both Seniors Unlimited groups had 30 entrants. Group 1 was an open battle, Mark Culliford had the best lap time in the first two races with James Chandler close on this tail. Group 2 had a battle between Simon Bracey and Paul Davey with just over 3 seconds as the maximum difference in the finish times between them over all 3 races.
MX2 Experts, Joe Russell and Mitch Boyland had 3 consistent races coming in 1st, 2nd or 3rd every time. It was impossible to 2nd guess the following places with riders having various degrees of success or not, probably depending on how well they avoided the chaos at the starts. The 2nd race was re-started for 3 laps following a red flag.
MX2 Junior Under 18’s had a relatively small field of 19 riders with Jack Griffiths, Will Abrams and Brett Moore battling it out for 1st to 3rd places respectively.
25 Experts Unlimited were dominated by Anthony Milliar not only one all 3 races but also had the fastest lap in all 3 races. The next 4 places were hotly contended and it was not possible to put them in any order. James Faulkner came in 6th in each race.
16 Inter Juniors battled for the top 5 places with William Davis coming in 5th in all 3 races and despite George Lovell not racing in the last race he still came 4th overall. Jed Stockham, Elliot Dowell and Tallon Leach all battled in every race to get a top 4 place.
Robert Millard shone in the Juniors Unlimited who was not only first in every race but also had the fastest lap times. Nigel Manning-Morton, Daniel Neale, Brett Moore and John Gabb all battled for 2nd to 5th.
Spectators and riders both had a great days racing thanks to Bath MX Secretary, Sue Chivers and the various sponsors.
