Lynda Metherell travelled to Horsley on Sunday to send us her report and images from the latest Stroud MX Club action.
Stroud MX Club ran an eventful days racing at Horsley on Sunday. Despite a few black clouds the rain held off and the sun shone most of the day. This meeting was fully booked and turning racers away in all groups.Events started off with a couple of accidents in the Experts practise which caused a considerable delay whilst the paramedics and ambulances dealt with the injured. Practise for all the groups then proceeded without too many incidents.
When racing began in the Experts Unlimited Group 1 there was another accident and things were again delayed. This group was dominated by Lee Dunham, AMCA MX2 British and IMBA MX European Champion, getting to speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour, and Paul Neale, DK Off-Road Kawasaki Masters MX2, who were 1st and 2nd respectively in every block with Robert Clark, Kristofer Ayres and Christian Dicks fighting for 3rd, 4th and 5th.The Experts Unlimited Group 2 fought to the end for the lead with first going from Robert Lewis to Kieran Mulloy and in the last race they fought to the line.
The MX1 Juniors group was dominated by Ian Griffiths and Nigel Manning-Norton. MX2 Juniors over 18’s was won in each race by Michael Newton with the runners up having to work hard for their positions, like wise in the MX2 Juniors under 18’s, Samuel Mumford who came 1st.The Inter Juniors, with a full gate had 3 great races with Zak Watkins having a cracking day by coming 1st in all races.
Thanks must go to Sue Anderton, Secretary, for organising the event and to the following for sponsoring the races: - LSW Electrics, Temple Construction, NRH Motors, Haywards of Stroud, Nailsworth Tyres and Stonehouse Commercials.
