Brookthorpe Support racing

There was a massive crowd at Brookthorpe on Sunday to watch the IMBA that was being hosted there by the Ross Falcons club, and the Expert support classes made sure that they were entertained between the International races.
In the Group One class, Paul Neale put on a superb display of racing, taking all three victories on the day, showing everyone why he is running third in the AMCA MX2 Championship and that he is a real threat for the title. He was followed home each time by Ryan Crowder, who was unable to pose any real threat to Neale or put him under any pressure to force a mistake. Brandon Benjamin looked set to take third place in all three races, but had to concede to Clinton Thomas in the final moto and settle for fourth spot – although he still came away with third overall.
Over in the Group Two class, Adam Harris was putting his own perfect score together, taking all three races with flag to finish wins. He crossed the line each time with a comfortable buffer between himself and the rest of the field, which was just as well as there was a fierce battle between Richard Lloyd and James Price for second overall. Price took second in the first moto, with Lloyd a distant third – but it was all change in moto two, as Lloyd took the runner up spot with Price back in fifth as he was unable to get past the fight between Ricky Roberts and Matthew Hitchman for third. Race three saw Price slot straight into second behind Harris, whilst Lloyd had an average start and had to work his way past several riders in the early laps to get up to third. However, he ran out of laps before he could close the gap on Price and had to settle for third. This meant the riders were separated by only 1 point, with Price taking second and Lloyd third overall.
The Non-Qualifiers class was won by Wayne Holder, with Duncan Deardon in second and Stephen Elford in third.
Many thanks must go to the Ross Falcons club, who hosted a fantastic weekend of racing. The track on Sunday was perfect, despite there having been a full day of racing on the Saturday as they had graded and watered the track overnight, and they must have been very pleased with the number of spectators that turned out to watch.
