Hay makes Hay at Mamble
Written by PETE DAWSON Sunday, 13 December 2009
The fourth round of the BMCA Trials Championship, held at Mamble in Worcestershire
saw a close contest for top honours in the Experts up to 350 class between championship leader Alan Nicklin, Dave Wood and Steve Hay.
All three remained clean at the end of the first of four laps but on lap two Nicklin dabbed the second, third and eighth sections and Woody also lost one at the eighth. These were the only marks the pair lost, both cleaning their remaining two laps but their scores were only good enough for second and third places as Steve Hay completed the whole course without loss.
Five riders contested the over 350 Experts class but only four finished as Arthur Browning’s Jawa suffered ignition problems when he was well in the running and he had to retire. Jim Pickering once again topped the class ahead of Pete Reed with Bob Greenhough a distant third.
Riding his DOT , Ian Bullock headed the Intermediate class and extended his lead in the championship ahead of
Pete Dawson
